re: the herding tigers convo
Cringe (mine). Herding Tigers and management. Taking creative risks. The Unpublishable.
Hey hey. Welcome to Volume 30. Here we go.
The Content People Episode
We’re taking a short break and will be back on January 2nd with our first episode of Season 3.
In the meantime: If you haven’t already, check out our convo with Todd Henry. Todd’s a prolific author and speaker whose work centers on fostering creativity in commercial environments. I’m a big fan of his creative management book Herding Tigers and his weekly 3 Things newsletter.
Two side notes:
I feel a little cringe about myself in this episode. It was my very first ep - I was nervous. I’ll ask you to give me some grace and tune in for Todd. This one has thousands of downloads for a reason.
I was working at an agency when this one aired and I called them out in the beginning. It’s confusing. Ignore that too? Just, you know, focus on Todd.

Listening
The Ten Percent Happier podcast: How to Take Risks (an Experimental Episode). In this ep, host Dan Harris and his Senior Editor Marissa Schneiderman chat through the flexible, creative approach they’re taking to launching a newsletter. As someone who has a podcast and a newsletter, this was particularly resonant. But there are great nuggets in here for anyone working on an iterative product or project.

A few weeks ago we interviewed Marisa Meltzer, author of the NYTimes best-seller Glossy (ep here). This medium article, We Need More Women Founders on Offense was a response to Glossy from Glossier’s former comms lead, Ashley Mayer. I’m here for the discourse.

Jessica DeFino’s substack The Unpublishable. Tagline: “The beauty industry’s least favorite newsletter.” This bad boy will wake you up to the beauty industrial complex like a cold bucket of (anti-inflammatory!) ice water.
Jess and I are recording an interview in December. Can’t wait to share it.
